/* privacy */
Your boards stay yours.
Mochiboard has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Everything you make is saved on your own computer, and the app only goes online for the few things below.
What stays on your computer
Your boards, notes, pictures, voice memos, videos and settings are saved in a folder on your computer and never leave it unless you share them yourself. There's no Mochiboard server and nothing to sign up for. I can't see your boards, and neither can anyone else.
When Mochiboard goes online
- Checking for updates. When it opens, Mochiboard asks GitHub (where it's published) whether there's a newer version. Nothing about you or your boards is sent.
- Mochi, only when you ask. Mochi works through your own Claude, the AI from Anthropic, using your own Claude account. What you ask, and the parts of your board Mochi needs to answer, go to Anthropic under their privacy policy. If you don't connect Claude, nothing is sent.
- Links and pictures you add. Pasting a link fetches that page's title and picture (and its little icon from Google). A Spotify link loads Spotify's own player. Fonts that aren't on your computer come from Google Fonts.
- Writing out voice memos on Windows. If you say yes, Mochiboard downloads the Whisper speech model from Hugging Face once. After that your memos are written out right on your computer, offline.
- Writing out voice memos on a Mac. This uses Apple's built-in speech recognition, on your Mac whenever your Mac supports it.
No tracking
The app has no analytics, no ads and no cookies. This website has no analytics of its own either. It asks GitHub for the download count you see on the page, and our web host (GoDaddy) adds a small script to its pages that measures how fast they load. If you send feedback, your note (and your email, if you add it) goes to Jessa through Formspree, along with which kind of computer you’re on.
Questions
Mochiboard is open source, so you can read exactly what it does on GitHub. Questions or worries? Open an issue there and I'll answer.
